This volunteer program in a nutshell

Volunteer with wild animals

Join a wildlife rescue sanctuary and actively contribute to the care of animals that have been rescued from illegal trade or unsafe conditions. Your daily tasks may include preparing food, cleaning enclosures, and supporting the rehabilitation process. You will work alongside experienced local teams who are deeply committed to animal welfare and conservation. Every day brings new learning opportunities about Colombia’s unique ecosystems and wildlife. This is a hands-on experience where your contribution truly matters. It’s not a zoo – it’s a place of recovery, respect, and second chances.

Disconnect in a remote place

Escape the noise of everyday life and immerse yourself in a peaceful natural environment. You will stay in a simple but comfortable private room directly inside the sanctuary, surrounded by jungle and wildlife. All meals are included, allowing you to fully focus on the experience. This is a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and live a simpler rhythm. Expect tranquility, early mornings, and unforgettable sounds of the wild. Perfect for those looking to reset and experience something truly authentic.

The impact you will make

Voluntours Colombia - Wild Life Sanctuary Volunteering in Bucaramanga - monkey eating

By joining this program, you directly support the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals in Colombia. Many of these animals come from illegal trafficking or have been kept in captivity under poor conditions.

Your help contributes to their recovery and, when possible, their return to the wild. Beyond animal care, the project also plays an important role in environmental education and ecosystem protection.

Sustainable conservation efforts depend on awareness, and your presence helps make this work possible. This is responsible volunteering with real, measurable impact.

WHAT OUR TRAVELERS SAY

Jamila Frederickson, UK, 2026 via Volunteer World

What was so special about my trip was the exciting opportunity to go to a nature reserve, which was truly incredible. Being so close to all these magnificent animals and being able to interact with them, and being apart of something that is trying to make a difference and give these animals a second chance is truly so beautiful. And along side this the nature reserve itself had truly the most magnificent landscape, you are just submerged in the most luscious nature. Honestly I couldn’t recommend this volunteer programme enough it truly made my time in Colombia unforgettable.
