A new community experience on Colombia’s Caribbean coast

We’re excited to introduce a new destination to Voluntours Colombia: Dibulla, La Guajira.

Located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, between the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the sea, Dibulla is a small coastal town where local traditions, music, nature and community come together.

And now, international travelers have the opportunity to experience this special place not just as visitors, but by getting involved with the local community.

Volunteer with Children in La Guajira

At the heart of our new program is a local community project supporting children and young people. As a volunteer, you can take part in educational activities, sports, games, creative workshops and cultural activities. You can also share your own skills and ideas with the children.

One of the special parts of the experience is traditional Colombian music. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn how to play drums, discover Caribbean rhythms and make music together with local children.

You don't need to be a professional teacher or musician. What matters most is your motivation, openness and willingness to connect with the community.

More Than Volunteering

We believe that volunteering abroad should be more than simply completing a few hours of community work. That's why your experience in Dibulla also gives you the chance to discover the region and experience Colombian Caribbean culture.

During your free time, you can explore beautiful beaches, discover local food, practice your Spanish and meet people from the community.

You can also join experiences to discover wild flamingos and Indigenous communities in the region. It's an opportunity to see a different side of La Guajira – one that goes beyond the typical tourist route.

Experience Local Life

During your stay, you'll live in a family-run hostel and become part of a small local environment.

You'll enjoy homemade meals, meet your Colombian hosts and have plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish and learn about everyday life in Dibulla.

For us, this is what makes the experience special. You don't simply arrive, volunteer and leave.

You become part of the community, even if only for a short time.

Why Dibulla?

La Guajira is famous for its dramatic landscapes and Indigenous culture, but Dibulla offers something different. Here, life is slower. The Caribbean Sea is right on your doorstep, the mountains rise behind the town and local traditions remain an important part of everyday life.

For travelers who want to experience authentic Colombia, meet local people and travel beyond the usual tourist destinations, Dibulla is a perfect place to slow down and connect.

Ready to Discover Dibulla?

Our new Volunteer with Children in La Guajira program is available for stays of one week or longer and can also be combined with other Voluntours Colombia experiences. Come to volunteer.

Come to learn. Come to experience Colombian culture.

And leave with memories that go far beyond the typical trip to Colombia.
